About BUN's Soapbox
Welcome to BUN's Soapbox, a heartfelt initiative rooted in faith, community, and a mission to create meaningful opportunities for individuals with autism. Based in Valparaiso, Indiana, BUN's Soapbox was founded by Jamie Fankhauser, a devoted mother, registered nurse, and advocate who believes she’s on a mission from God to make a difference.
Our Story
Jamie Fankhauser’s journey began in Michigan where learned to make raw goat’s milk soap. What started as a small family endeavor quickly grew into a calling after her daughter, who has autism, found purpose and joy in the process. Inspired by her daughter’s progress and a deep faith, Jamie felt led by God to expand this work into something greater. She soon realized that soap-making could serve a higher purpose: providing employment and support for others with autism. In August of 2017, Jamie began selling her soaps in retail stores, asking store owners, “Why don’t you have your own soap?” The response was overwhelming, and soon BUN's Soapbox was born. Named after the family’s home and shop in Valparaiso, BUN's Soapbox became a platform to not only sell handmade soaps but also to advocate for autism awareness and inclusion.
